Cincinnati
- Our trip to Istanbul for the Student Triennial at Marmara University was a great experience. Eric Cowan and Bernadette Houk's work was exhibited in a beautiful old building designed by Sinan, the Sultan's architect. Its domed ceilings and courtyards were perfect exhibition spaces. Our Turkish hosts fed us with great banquets and worked very hard to translate and communicate with us. They were generous and kind hosts. I was the only American who presented at the symposium. My audience asked many questions about US government policy.
- Joe and I drove down to Cincinnati, Ohio to be there for the International Sculpture Conference. We were impressed with the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center where we saw an exhibition about Ant Farm. On the way home we saw the Fine Arts building at Antioch designed by Ant Farm. Though it's close to thirty years old it still seems like a great art-making faculity. In Cincinnati we stayed in the Symphony Hotel( great food) and went accross the street to see the Cincinnati Opera perform L' Etoile by Emmanual Chabrier. On the way home we visited the Shirley/Jones Gallery in Yellow Springs to see the Tom Doyle exhibiton.
